What do you think?

I have decided to try something new. As you know, The Joiners give all of their music away because, honestly, it's the best way to get noticed and everyone is broke these days anyway. The problem with this plan of course is that the studio costs money. We've been fortunate enough so far to find good friends who are into recording us on the cheap but this too makes us feel bad because recording the Joiners is WORK. Kyle from Quad (recorded "Tennessee") did the whole thing for free and Andy (Olives and Oil) did it next to free. Rae and I were talking recently about how to record the follow up to our record and we are thinking about making it a fan affair. This is where ya'll come in. Basically, we need $1,000 to do four more songs with Kyle to complete what would then be an "ep." I'm gonna put the hat back out there and see how this goes. When you click the hat you'll be taken to Pay Pal where you can enter a donation amount (anything helps). You'll get a receipt in your e-mail and we'll get closer to making the next record. I'll put a graphic up showing the progress. As soon as we have a grand, we'll hit the studio. I told Kyle to book the room for the second weekend in August. That gives us about a month. Let me know how ya'll feel about this. Is it bad for me to solicit donations while the economy is in the toilet? I don't really know but I thought I'd give it a shot. Those who donate will get advance recordings, alternate mixes, love, and good fortune. Again, we know everyone's broke so if this doesn't work we'll still find a way to record and continue to give the music away. Let's see how it goes.

Oh yeah, we won't withdraw the funds until we hit the studio. Promise.

I look forward to hearing Olives and Oil. (And it's not often that I get to write "parenthetical.")
Thanks

This is great! Thank you soooo much. I just got to the internet and found this lovely news. Ya'll are truly wonderful for helping us get this thing off the ground. I'll send you a hard copy of Olives and Oil shortly as a token of our appreciation. There will be other perks, mentions, etc...in the future while we progress. Thanks again.
I'm on board.

Jill Sobule had some success doing a similar thing. I'll be honored to donate some if I can.

I can't give much, but I love the thought of being in on a grassroots effort for such awesome local music.
